Integrated hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical dataset of an alpine catchment in the northern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau

Abstract. Climate warming has significantly changed the hydrological cycle in cold regions, especially areas with permafrost or seasonal frost. Groundwater flow and its interactions surface water are essential components of process. However, few studies modeling works have been based on long-term field observations groundwater level, temperature, hydrogeochemistry, isotopic tracers from boreholes due to obstacles such as remote locations, limited infrastructure, harsh work conditions. In Hulugou catchment, an alpine catchment headwater region Heihe River northern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP), we drilled four sets depth-specific wells monitored levels temperatures at different depths. Surface (including river water, glacier meltwater, snow meltwater), precipitation, boreholes, spring soil were sampled measure abundances major minor elements, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), stable radioactive isotopes 64 sites. This study provides a dataset these parameters spanning 6 consecutive years monitoring/measurements. These data can be used investigate processes groundwater–surface QTP under global climate change.
